Race day! We didn't quite make it into the championship race so we were in the large open schools race. Got to the course at about 8:00, started warming up around 8:10 did an easy mile and got in some stretches and ate the Snickers. Got to the line and did a few strides, prayer, cheer, then we were ready to go. The gun went off and we all got out pretty quick. First mile went by really fast, I didn't go up by Watson and the other girls because they usually go out too fast for me but I kept them in my sights. Second mile I focused on catching other girls and moving up. I threw in some surges after most of the curves. I was feeling really strong and I was holding a good pace. Third mile I just kept trying to hold my pace, with 800 to go I kinda lost it mentally and slowed down a lot. But after about a 400 I whipped it back into shape. My kick was really strong and I passed quite a few people so I'm pleased with that. Also I got a new PR so that's sick! As a team we took 4th in our race and I'm super proud of how we all preformed. I absolutely loved this course and the whole trip was a blast! Shoutout to our boys team because they also did really well and huge shoutout to Gups for taking second overall! Also I held my own against Collin in rock paper scissors (where you slap the person's hand who loses) in the end we called it a draw but I think I coulda won it (the bruise on my hand was prime) and I'm #grateful for such an amazing opportunity I had to come down and race it really was amazing!
